ACT ONE

The first thing I've really noticed that I hadn't really processed before is that... YEAH THERE REALLY ARE A NUMBER OF CAKES HERE. Did John's dad bake all of these? He definitely has been baking, he probably did bake these cakes. Holy shit that's a lot of effort, he's really working hard for John, damn.

Also, I find it interesting that the formal introductions to these characters are just like a paragraph of exposition about the character. This seemingly flies in the face of "show don't tell" but... these introductions aren't really the main ways we learn about these characters, I think it's more important to see how a character interacts with the world around them and the other characters. And Homestuck has a ton of character interaction! As well as an interesting world to interact with. We get a glimpse of how the kids act at their own homes and then what happens when they are thrown in the pressure cooker that is Sburb.

That doesn't mean that this information is useless, I want to see how relevant this is throughout John's story. Not necessarily to the overall plot, I'm including him just being silly in this, I'm just interested in how much it comes up. Terrible movie taste, bad at computer programming, likes paranormal lore, is an amateur magician and likes games. Got it. Maybe I should watch those movies to see if he really does have terrible movie taste.
